Why is Nine Dot Systems Going Green?

Nine Dot Systems' owner has been a closet environmentalist since he was a young child growing up in Iowa. His family was making trips to the recycle center every week to drop off all the things that could be reused and not lost in landfills. They always conserved energy in the summers by never using lights unless needed and always shut off the furnace during the cold winter nights to save on fuel

Last year one of Mr. Kremer's customers came to him and questioned/challenged him to make a difference as a company that uses a large amount of energy and has a HUGE carbon footprint. Taking this task seriously Nine Dot Systems' initiative was born. We spent a few month researching our options and avenues to make a difference and then chose the one that felt best for us and our customers. Last July, Nine Dot Systems became Carbon Neutral (we are offset our entire Carbon Footprint) and has been ever since.

How is Nine Dot Systems Different than other hosting/web companies?

Nine Dot Systems is Carbon Neutral company, not by buying “Carbon Credits,” but by planting thousands upon thousands of trees to offset our carbon footprint. These trees over the course of their lives will use carbon to produce oxygen and reduce our ozone issues. The more trees we put back into the ground, the better the world is in the future.  (We feel this is a much more pro-active way to save the environment and feel very strongly against the promotion of “Carbon Credits”) Many large corporations have decided to purchase Carbon Credits and this makes them feel okay with still produces large amounts of carbon while doing nothing about it. In all truth Carbon Credits pay large energy corporations to produce "green" electricity, which is something they didn't need paid to do anyway. The whole Carbon Credit program is baffling to us really, but we won't dwell on the bad.

What Nine Dot Systems is doing in the future

Nine Dot Systems has recently started working with IowaGreenTeam.com to make their company a 100% Certified Green Business. Through this certification, the Green Certified label is earned and not bought. This is a socially conscious way of running a business and we hope all of our clients do the same in the future to help on their end with the world we live in.
